(SU5) FPS drop when panning camera

The change in LOD rendering and object draw distance was introduced in SU5 and has since seemed to cause many issues for PC users. Currently camera panning can cause FPS loss as objects buffer into view last minute. As third party developers we have no control over this sim behaviour and only have control over our own Objects LOD (not draw distance).

The official statement from Asobo with regard to a fix coming for this in SU6 can be found below:

“Offscreen terrain pre caching” graphics settings has been added (Low, Medium, High and Ultra). If set to Ultra, all the offscreen terrain will be cached at full quality which will reduce FPS drops and LOD popping when panning the camera but may impact overall performance -Maximum photogrammetry draw distance has been further increased. As a result, photogrammetry of downtown building areas will be visible from farther away -Cities at night are now more visible on the World map."
